However, and unfortunately, it is barely even spoken nowadays. Or more like every one who claims to speak Breton around here actually speaks it's own language. And the only uniformed local language is something that was put together a couple dozen years ago when they reintroduced it in schools.

@panzercracker yeah. Mostly they used bows and spears. However, these guys were precursors to the shinobi, so they would've used short weapons, like the tanto or ninjato. Our MC also would've been more used to using a sword because it'd be hard to practice with spears in their dojo, as well as their location at home seemed to be in a city. It'd be hard to conceal a spear because it's illegal and needs to be licensed, unlike for example a katana which could be stowed away in secret, or passed off as an ancestral heirloom. So, our MC wouldn't have had much time with practicing spears, but now that he's gotten his hands on a magari yari...
