It's simply poor story-telling for some of the apparently protagonistic characters to refuse to share useful information with other protagonistic characters.

The great spirits? It looks like they are withholding information for the purpose of getting him to visit all four of them. If one of them told him everything, he might just go elsewhere without visiting all of them. Considering his nature, I would bet that their purpose would lead them to sacrificing themselves, which is something Zero would be averse to.

.... and the annoying sister is back. I was really hoping she’d be gone for longer. A small cast is fine (generally better for character development), but the author could have used the “solo” journey as an opportunity to introduce new characters... bette characters... just characters without terrible personalities or idiots that only use violence and won’t stop bitching. I would have also been okay with the MC’s journey being completely solo until he figured out the whole “who he was” thing from the great earth spirit. At most just Grace. I didn’t need the whole idiot trio back.

On another note from the way it sounds the humans are in the wrong for seeing the spirits as nothing more than power boosters. It also seems like the the rock absorbs magic to boost the natural repair/healing of the spirit to bring about its rebirth. I’m pretty sure if he just waits long enough, it’ll wake back up. If the spirit liberation groups knows this, I don’t see how they can use that knowledge with bad intentions.
