I'm confused. So Kiel (Keel?) dresses like a boy, acts like a boy, and wants to be/referred to as a boy, but has female parts. Are they not trans? Isn't the author writing everyone around them as just very transphobic?? I'm confused, would they straight up write everyone as transphobic, is this supposed to make fun of trans people, what's going on here? Big confusion....

Trans people are very well aware that their physical gender does not match their mental gender
Keel is ignorant about the difference genders, she physically was able to keep-up with the boys in the village she thinks she a boy and the boy parts will come when she hit age
Here when she still trying to be a boy after being informed may make her trans but medieval society trans did not exist [either killed off or keep in the closet]
In the main line she doesn't reject her gender and appears to be paring up with someone who is male
