The story was never cohesive nor did it ever have a thematic narrative driving the characters actions beyond shallow or superficial reasons. It doesn't get better, and I would say gets a lot worse as the plot continues on. I stopped reading the novel right before the end because I didn't care about anyone or what they were fighting for. Not to mention the fact the fights became really boring because it turned into DBZ level fights.

@ZeroLight315 yeah you only have one life, BUT that is also true for every living thing in the world. so what you are saying is not entirely true. if the vamp and demi-human country weren't there, i'm pretty sure there would rise a few powerfull individuals among the humans.

There's also the lifespan problem. Compared to seemingly half the races out there humans might not just live long enough to reach level 1000 just playing it safe. Hell most still-living elves or [whatever the winged people were called] don't seem to be anywhere near levels of the nerfed heroes of their own races either, so assuming the somewhat strong ones just died to demons in the last two centuries then there's no way a human will live long enough to catch up to the MC and Benet at this point, demons or no.

And yeah what Umetsu said in the first layer of spoiler brackets. Which I swear has been brought up in the manga already.
