the problem here lies in the fact that this lord isnt decent. Its the same lord who ruled over her village too. He acts close with the merchant and hides the merchants (illegal) slavery and several other crimes. This Lord would force her to come to his place with his soldiers and then basically make her his slave for potions (and other things if he sees her).
