Storytelling 101: If you vomit a bunch of exposition and then have the guy being told the exposition say "I knew all that already!" it draws the reader's attention to the fact that they've just been exposition dumped.

Why the hell did the author write the MC so naive and stupid? He knows in this life he has no fortune and no abilty. He would be seen as a disabled person or even less than human by some.

His life there is Silent Hill mode, but not only does he lack caution when his first experience in this world is a massive electric shock, he believe things told to him with no doubt, no thought and no general plan.
Even though he was apparently told about the bombs and such he carelessly goes for the magic spell thinking he'll be free... and that they wouldn't do anyhting else to him.
