I’m with the others here and really don’t want this flashback to get super dark just to make us hate the orcs. They already have been shown to be terrible so just let Van and company get back to wiping the floor with them.

I get you guys not wanting the story distracted by a sudden grimdark background for a character, and this was definitely supposed to be told to us earlier. That's how it was in the novel.

If it's any consolation while it will be "dark," it won't be too graphic and mostly just be sad/disappointing (aka people are shitty and will do shitty things to others). Anyways Tarea is a strong willed individual so she's overcome most of her trauma so it's not gonna be a big deal or get in the way in the future iirc.
