@Starbright, hes just being petty. like his 4 step plan for revenge against her mom for saying that she doesn't want her kid hanging out with people who sell other humans for meat is as follows: 1) kill the mom, 2) my daughter now, 3) ???, 4) profit
edit: just reread this and realized a fairly straightforward way he could profit from having anybody at his disposal really, my b
@sleepyknight what do you mean to have someone at disposal for profit. I would think if he allowed someone else to build an emotional connection with him would make it harder for him to control. He always asks him do you feel something maybe like the mother he also wants a better life for him.
@starbright, oh i was making a joke about the fact that his whole job is butchering and selling people, so if his goal were to profit from being kiyoko's guardian he might just do it that way. but i do genuinely think hes adopted her just to spite her mother, so there's really no profit motive present in that sense
I think while Nakata does have affection for Kotatsu, hes not so affectionate that hed keep him from doing a job which fundamentally alienates him from his own and others humanity. so i feel like his actions contradict his words there. furthermore id say its blatantly clear that he isnt acting with Kiyoko's best interests in mind here, having killed her mother and prevented her from attaining any degree of class mobility, then going a step further and separating her from her support network. Like if his main motivation had been encouraging Kotatsu's development then letting him continue to live in her apartment complex without her mother intervening would have been enough. I don't think moving both kiyoko and kotatsu into the forest, where there's no chance for them have normal lives, can be said to be for their sakes or even for the sake of a relationship structure which kotatsu doesn't fully understand and feels no qualms about reneging on as of this chapter
