I hope so, but I hope that the staging involves the fiance too. Even if it's all a plan by the grandmother (or the clan's elders) to "push" the pair into the right direction, bastard fiances are dime a dozen and a painfully stereotypical cliché.

On the other hand, if the fiance was in the plan all along and his ridiculous villainy is all an act, that would be an interesting twist.
