Sad story but shopkeeper’s right. Whether it’s IRL or a yuri story, that’s a pretty common ending. Loving this series so far already!

First, whether medicine is bitter has no relationship to whether it is good. Quack remedies can be bitter. So can poison.
Second, a shopkeeper is not a "random" stranger--you know where their place of business is. If you can't take a drink from one, then goodbye restaurants and coffee shops.
