It's doubtful that the mother, after committing suicide, forced the Minami to do anything.

Oh, god. It's late if my thought process was: "Wait, that censored word can't be fucked, cause they're dead. 'Killed'? But you don't normally censor kill. What's an extreme word for killed. Destroyed?"

@Silvance I was looking for a word that perfectly matched the 3 *s and I only could come up with "raped" and it made no sense at all. If you don't follow the "rule" then it's perfect (but then why not using 4 *s or why not simply writing "killed")?

EDIT: @SmolTori oh ok thank you, maybe it's because of publisher's policy

I didn't like this chapter. We already knew the backstory of Minami and Shizuku from previous chapters - they bonded because they were both abused as kids, and used one another as replacement family. All they knew of family was violence, so it wasn't a healthy relationship, but it was one I could feel sympathy for. Adding this outlandish backstory makes Shizuku harder to connect with since the details are so strange. Maybe if the author had set up the specifics ahead of time, it would have worked better. But as is, Shizuku dumps the whole story in one page and moves on. So I mostly felt confused, not sympathetic.

The frustrating part is that I don't even think Shizuku's backstory is going to matter in future chapters. Based on the volume 2 cover I assume Shizuku/Saori are going to be more of a focus in upcoming chapters, so I think the purpose of this chapter was to establish that Shizuku misses her pseudo-sister Minami, and is jealous of Iori. Maybe that will lead to further conflict with Minami. Maybe Shizuku will work with Saori to undermine Minami/Iori; they both seem jealous of their sister's relationship. Maybe all of this was pointless, and the next several chapters will be Iori/Minami fluff. Regardless I don't think the specifics of Shizuku's backstory will come up, so the author shouldn't have randomly included it.

Nice, finally back to the real characters. Looking forward to seeing more of the younger pair.

"to keep my advantage" what? over what... So you wanted to be her friend but not without making sure you can blackmail her first or something? XP well shes' fucked up and it's been clear for a while... and of course, I don't like her... Giving her a tragic past doesn't change anything because as we all already know, you can still be good like the protagonist, work, have friends and find love even with a tragic past.

She originally didn't want to make friends with her though, she only wanted information. Minami wouldn't give it to her so she stole it, she obviously felt some kinship with their situations so told Minami about her past, leading to probably her first-ever friend.

It cost me some flexibility to think that censored word is "killed".
But let's be honest, everyone. We all are too used to the fact that it's the word "fucked" is censored.

Shizuku fucked up bad with Minami taking out her frustration on her and just being an asshole but i still hope she finds a place to belong like Minami did, everyone deserves a second chance right? All that matters is that you truly want to change for the better.
