I can really imagine The Crown Prince just commenting with Marie that he wishes to marry her (the Princess), and she freaking out believing that he found out her identity and is saying that just because he wants her to surrender and then kill her.

About calling her "Her Highness" it's because she's the woman that holds the highest position in the Empire, so she's considered a Princess, because there isn't a crown princess yet, but considering etiquette they would keep calling her "highness/princess" until her marriage when she would carry her husband's tittle.
