A Stepmother's Märchen - Vol. 1 Ch. 52

ah, i gotta say the trial is lackluster. i actually thought it will turn out so heated with the divorce and such, only for the empress to just dissolve the trial midway through.

oh well,good for shuri tho.

I'm glad the drama is over but it felt anticlimactic, especially after all the angst that hyped it up😂😂 also, I don't get how shuri won. She demanded for a divorce to save her son and then...? Maybe my reading skills suck but I really didn't understand what happened😂😂
Also, for the panels that were about shuri and nora, was it in nora's or shuri's POV? I know it sounded like it was shuri's thinking but at the same time I sounded like nora's thinking🤣🤣

Did the PR change? Tbh I can barely understand this chapter, if at all.

The wording feels pretty rough this chapter, a bit hard to understand what is being said. But thanks for the chapter, so glad the trial is over.

the empress canceled the trial because she dont want the girl that look like shuli mentioned? just as the count want to mention her.. and boom cancelled

It looks like the empress reacted to Shuli's power play and stopped it before it could get out of hand. The church wanted to go after Shuli herself and she wanted to go after some private issue she had between her and Neuschwanstein. From her point of view it didn't matter what happened to Shuli or Jeremy. So, the empress was okay with it as long as everyone's goals were aligned. That's what I got out of it.

What she didn't expect was for Shuli to get the family's support and then attempt to make the trial a matter of house rights. That threatened to make it a whole other matter for her politically. So, she intervened and called the trial off. It would also make sense for her to keep Jeremy out of the head position of the household right now for the same reason. Essentially she took the prince's original plan to save everyone and become a benefactor. But she did it for her own reasons and not the prince's.

If I were anyone in the Neuschwanstein household, I'd never forget what she just did and keep a poisoned dagger up my sleeve just in case.

Missing page, I was waiting for this moment but not here....

TL quality took a nosedive for this chapter and the next. I feel like I've lost out on a bunch of valuable context because the dialogue is translated so poorly.

@faulty450 I think the reason for the empress's reaction is because Count Reicher was about to suggest that Johannes married Shuli due to her uncanny resemblance to the late empress Ludovica, which is a can of worms in itself given how much everyone is dancing around that fact.

Yo the last part with the "dark gaze"
why the cardinal gotta be so slimey istg if those devout fanatics weren't so sexually repressed everyone's lives would be so much easier

F*ck you Empress!! when things didnt go the way you wanted, just casually decide to forget it.. heh 😡

The trial was ended so abruptly by the Empress, it almost feels anticlimactic after the events leading to it were slightly drawn out. But if we consider the Empress looking out for future issues and conflict, like the church and the nobles, it makes sense to stop it under a certain pretence.

Thank you to the scanlating team for the efforts and update. Frankly the translation for this chapter was so confusing I ended up skimming over it, which is such a shame because I can tell there’s a lot of important information. I think the team needs to consider translating from Korean to English in a way that actually flows and makes sense rather than trying to keep it closer to the literal meaning in Korean, if that’s what being done. It would also be really helpful if QC or anyone else were making sure that the dialogues and facts check out (in story telling) following previous chapters and plot so far, and as we go.

Edit: wording.

The typesetting and stuff is really nice but what even happened with the dialogue this chapter? "Ran like a dead person?"
I don't even know why the trial ended abruptly tbh

Okay, I know the translation is a little rough, but no one is commenting on that goregous page after Shuli smiled at Nora!? He's falling for her so hard. 😭

Edit: a word

The court ending was unexpected but not anti-climatic, if the reason was explained, it will shook the whole country, even endanger the crown, the queen knew that hence she must stop the court.
