Assassin de Aru Ore no Sutetasu ga Yuusha Yori mo Akiraka ni Tsuyoi Nodaga - Vol. 1 Ch. 4 - Trap (3)

Read it again, the captain personally trained him.

Also thats a pretty small katana so it wouldnt get in the way, the fact its double edged also helps with stabbing which an assassin is more likely to do.

@gaigous if he can use both proficiently then.... good for him right? at this point he's like a final fantasy class assassin so his weapons and skills kinda make sense.

@silverden Absolutely, it'd be foolish to refuse the best method available to him, but If he's a final fantasy character then he should be able to build his character in whatever direction he wants, and if this was a bet, I'd put all my money on him maxing out his Katana and magic over anything else.

@jorgeDS Were you talking to me or every complaint in this comment section?

I'm pretty sure this isekai is a bit self-aware of the isekai craze; it even goes out of its way to mock several tropes and propel a plot in opposition of such. Not completely, of course. Our "hero" is edging toward OP levels.

the-the last part? so this got axed?

A katana? For an assassin weapon? Smh, everyone knows that a true assassin uses a mace

Not saying this isn't a trashy edgy-wannabe isekai (that I'm gonna read anyways because I have no self control and like assassins, which don't appear that much in isekai genre),
but that isn't really a katana, even if they called it that.
Kogarasu Maru or Kagarasu zukiri is the name of a type of blade made before katana existed, so it technically isn't one.
For a katana it's pretty small, being around 60 cm, and the only reason for using a smaller blade, is for when you are in closed spaces. In a straight duel, range plays a big factor (as long as the balance is good), of course you can't go against someone with a longsword when you have a dagger, unless the other person is stupid and let's you come close enough that he can't use it.
Anyways, the point is that nothing fucking matters, it's fantasy and there's magic, super speed, huge gaps of power and all that shit. Rule of cool trumps anything, and a medium sized, doubled edged black tachi seems pretty cool to me.

Remember kids, any weapon turns into an assassin weapon as long as it's colored black.

Only the best can backstab with a flail.

@Umesan

I know you're being sarcastic, but I'm not sure whether you realize that the "assassin" you're referring to was
just a farmer (who legend mistakenly thought was a swordsman) summoned through a fluke by another servant, and
not actually an assassin in any way?
And that actual assassin-class servant in fate/stay night did use daggers?

Wait since when did this manga 'edgy'? Its not like he is travelling around the world to get revenge or he is a psychopath needing to perform needless gore and violence. An assassin class MC donning full black attire and weapon would scream "chuunibyou" then edgy. Same like ntr term, people keeps misusing the word.

Btw I like the story so far, would be a shame if this is just short LN promotional manga.

@Kyujyu right? Maybe it's because of MC's color of choice of his outfit. If so they're right.

I mean, black katana? Why not normal colored katana? ?

@Kyujyu A sane individual that understands the difference between Netorare and Netori, please accept my friendship!

@seekermoc if we talking about same character if I remember correctly he wasn't a farmer, but a fictional character, who only existed in the stories P.S. the usual spoiler tag does not work for some reason, can someone tell me how to do it?
