@saphirekosmos He did have had time to mentally prepare himself, since he was on a rescue mission for what he believed was her period.
But still, well done by him, twice even. (First when he set out just because he understood that it might be important, and then when he like you said managed to take the further discussion in stride.)
If anything, she's more stressed out that he might think she's a heavy bleeder.

@Simpleton It is probably her being afraid of him being grossed out in general. I grew up in a household of women and a good portion of my friends have been women so I don't bat so much as an eyelash at that stuff, but I think that many guys would. I also think that most guys wouldn't even know that you can have a heavy or a light flow.
Fun fact I was at the movies with one of my best friends/roommate (A female). I got a charlie horse in my leg, she looked at me with a puzzled look and later asked me what happened, stating that my face made it look like I was having menstrual cramps. I mentioned it was a charlie horse to which she replied something like "Oh okay, makes sense. Those two pretty much feel the same.". Considering she got near debilitating cramps I don't doubt her comparison. Gave me a whole new level of respect for the ladies who have to deal with that. Also another reason to be glad I am a guy.
