Bokura no Kiseki - Vol. 16 Ch. 60

Poor Zeze, his personality is getting messed up because his current and past selves are conflicting

ive always liked zeze but like... for some reason i really love prince eugene. he's my favorite character

Rida is so strong and i really like that about her. Her loyalty is something I admire. But I like Eugene because he’s a complex character like Veronica/Minami and I’m hoping for more chapters about him.

Eugene probably had his reasons for doing what he did. Zeze just can't remember them all yet. It would be hard to reconcile everything that happened if Eugene truly was an enemy.

@seekermoc There are some things people do that I find it really hard to care about their reasons. "Break the peace treaty, betraying your fiancee, to do a surprise massacre of a bunch of innocent people so your kingdom can crush a rival kingdom instead of using your marriage to their princess to create a lasting peace" is kind of one of them.

@purplelibraryguy

It's been 5 months, I'll have to re-read the last few chapters to remember everything, and I haven't yet read the next chapter. So please correct me if I'm mistaken in anything.

For the most part I agree with you, if Eugene really did betray everybody, it'd be hard to imagine any circumstances that would justify his actions. That said, we don't even know if Eugene actually did any of those things you mentioned below. I was saying we should wait to see Eugene's reasons before we judge his actions, because we don't even know for sure yet what he was doing or why. For all we know, Eugene could have, perhaps misguidedly, been trying to save everybody. All we have are some fragmented memories that only show events from the Princess' perspective, plus all the nationalist hatred from the side characters. From what I remember all we know for sure is:

Eugene probably wasn't aware of the invasion before it happened.
Eugene was the type of person who kept his thoughts/feelings/intentions to himself and didn't share much with the Princess or his subordinates.
Eugene was up to something at the end, which was implied to be nefarious, but that view comes from biased observers whose own memories are still confused, especially as to what happened at the end.
Zeze doesn't yet remember all the events from Eugene's perspective.

@zanzwi I can get what you mean even after rereading this many time eugene is my favorite with the princess plus the present character for these two ... I like mostly all the characters here but especially these two is my favorite.

i think the reason i like eugene is cuz hes a bit of a stereotype ml but i cant help it, uptight 2d men make me feel things UwU

“So he was that man on the verge of dying that you abandoned. That was good work.”

Lmao
