@Melakias @speedysam0 I can relate with your thoughts as these looks like the typical wolf. Unfortunately, the raws literally spell "Waurufu" in katakana. So assuming it's either the artist's or the author's idea of Werewolfs, or perhaps the author meant War Wolf.
I haven't read WN, so I have no idea what comes next.
