hi, I was just wondering what the reading order for dragon ball is. On mangadex, there is a whole bunch of different dragon ball stuff, and was wondering where the definite dragon ball manga is. cause there’s dragon ball with like 500 chapters, and then z and super, so I was wondering which order to read them in. And if it’s not too much of a hassle could you provide links? Thanks.

Jaco The Galactic Patrolman/Dragon Ball Minus, Dragon Ball(Dragon Ball Z in Vol.17 and onwards), Dragon Ball Super and the last chapter of Dragon Ball

technically Neko Majin is Dragon Ball's sequel

the rest of Dragon Ball stuff are doujins/Fan-Manga, spin-offs(who aren't written by Toriyama), Crossovers with Kochikame and One Piece, Dragon Ball SD and shared universe with Dr.Slump

Long long long time ago, I have repeatedly read 3 Volumes that was gifted to me, but they aren't continuous volumes.. So, allow me to ask, approximately where are these scenarios in the series, so I could sorta align myself..

Scenario 1:
There's this capsule that goes underground.
One fight was Gohan with a monster that attacks from the darkness and eats light?, the other was Vegeta, I think, with a monster that could change location. It changed to a high-gravity planet, but still get easily smashed into smithereens. Later, it's Goku's turn, but the villain retreats and inform the villain boss something about Vegeta? with huge evil intent, and Vegeta got mind-controlled by the villain boss. And, looks like Goku has to face him and the volume ends.

Scenario 2:
Gohan & co fighting Bezita? & a bulky guy.
Goku was jump-sprinting along a dragon-shaped road, as he was just revived or something. Goku arrives Earth?, eats a "bean", calls a cloud, rush to Gohan & co's aid. Bezita with the eye device checks combat power of incoming Goku, it's over 9000.(I believe this is where the meme comes from eh..)
Goku easily overpowered bulky guy, Bezita only watches on the sidelines. Bulky guy plays cheat, forces Goku to use a power he just learnt from someone(Kaiou? Long moustache, short guy), and rendered the bulky guy weakened. The partner killed the bulky guy himself and fights Goku. Bezita challenges Goku's new power that has limited use(3, I think), found it to be unimpressive. Goku charged up the last use, and the volume ends.

Scenario 3:
Goku, Gohan & co fighting Cell?
Gohan beating up Cell, but got too arrogant? Enemy threw up a girl & un-stoppable self-explosion process initiates. Goku teleports himself & the near-exploding Cell to the short guy with long moustache. Goku sacrificed, along with the long moustache guy. Long moustache scolded Goku, they did not see Cell's soul ascending. Cell did not die. Goku communicate with Gohan & co via long moustache's telepathy, and then one-handed Kamehameha.

Now that I had described it out, I mainly wanna read what happens after Scenario 1 & 2 actually.. Thanks.

You definitely want to begin by the main series. https://www.mangadex.org/title/3132/dragon-ball

Then you can read the prequels and side stories https://www.mangadex.org/title/13175/dragon-ball-minus https://www.mangadex.org/title/24280/dragon-ball-ossu-kaette-kita-son-gok-to-nakama-tachi https://www.mangadex.org/title/24563/dragon-ball-sd

Akira Toriyama created a parodie of his manga https://www.mangadex.org/title/3857/neko-majin

Finally, you can try the sequel: https://www.mangadex.org/title/15653/dragon-ball-super

If you are ok with anime that wasn't created following the original storyline, try DragonBall GT. Many will say that it is not part of DB, but since it has been aired to a wide audience (Cartoon Network in the USA for instance), it is part of many people's memories of DB.

@phoenix_eD
Scenario 1 is definitely volume 38. It is the transition leading to the last arc with Buu.
Scenario 2 is volume 19, about 3/4 into the Saiyan arc (first arc after adulthood of Goku, where the last 4 surviving Saiyan appear).
Scenario 3 is volume 35, last volume of the Android/Cell arc.

When I give volume reference, it is in Bunkoban format. DBZ is one of the few manga having been published in both Bunkoban and Wideban format in western countries, you might have read a different set of chapters.

@Haikaka
Looks like I got several details wrong there. It's been more than a decade after all..
Done reliving the memories. Gonna read it from the start soon. Thanks ya!
