I'd guess that the name transferring thing and calling her Elle isn't symbolic but actually that she physically lost part of her name, and something like part of her true name has been taken, and her true name is like a source of her power. you know, the usual n"ames have power" trope.

I think the sound effect 'Kero' is also the sound of someone tilting their head in incomprehension. Like for children and airheaded girls. In the panel you can see her head off set with some curved lines. Where-as 'Kero kero' is frogs singing.
