Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Deshou! - Vol. 8 Ch. 46 - The Melancholy of The Baumeister Family

He's actually seeming a bit more sympathetic in this than in the web novel... but honestly, it is showing that he actually tried to be a good lord.. in the Web Novel, he was just a plain jerk who, because of his inferiority complex became an asshat who didn't even try...

Doesn't MC have his own house and rank basically making him unaffiliated to his original family?

is he the brother who got killd(?) and got his wife taken by the mc or i remember the wrong manga/ln?

@MiiaBestWaifu
I'm not sure if this happened yet in the manga or only the anime (the anime was ahead of the manga at some point). Yes the MC had to kill his older brother who used some ancient rune and aimed to kill a bunch of people The MC killed him but he didn't take his wife, at least not romantically or anything. He asked the king to grant him the right to give noble titles (usually only the king has such right) and he wants to wait for his nephews (the killed brother's kids) to grow up and then give them titles which will shield them a little from people because everyone hates their dead father because they know he wanted to kill a bunch of people. So he wants to grant them titles as protection. So yeah, he didn't take the wife or anything.

This chapter seems to be trying to make the older brother more understandable. But my only take away is that the father is just as an a**hole as the son.

@Dosky
He's a noble without a territory, however the king and a few other nobles want wendelin to inherit the baumeister territory due to it being a rich but undeveloped territory, which in the hands of any of the other brothers will continue to be nothing more than a backwater, while wendelin could potentially make it a area that could rival the imperial capital in wealth.

That said the father and oldest brother ARE dicks, and kind of treat nobles of higher standing in a ignoble way while also abusing their populace's minor wealth among other things, so it's not like the king and nobles are wrong to do so in general, it's just wrong to try and make wendelin essentially side against some of his family.

@Akera93 You were right at ALMOST everything you said. I'll say only this because I only watched the anime (and I'm reading the manga so far) but
the MC defeated his brother, but AFTER he got himself cursed by playing a flute that was given to him by the corrupt Lukna. Kurt believed that the flute he got is one that would call a dragon (or a few), but instead he got one that calls evil spirits and got cursed in the process. Bell, with the help of Elise, defeated him. After that, Kurt's vengeful spirit escaped and chased Lukna just to kill him, his family, and some more corrupt nobles related to him (and probably their families as well).
