Again, Horrifically historically inaccurate. There is no physical possibility of plunging fire from an english war-bow penetrating a half-decently crafted breastplate / pauldron / etc like that.

Penetrating the chain and the gaps in the armor is fine, but not the solid plates.

I'm guessing/hoping that they just used an ambush group with a *shitload* of crossbows and that it was just drawn poorly.
This was just an odd chapter overall, not a fan of how the cav is running behind the infantry either.

Well, archers were meant to soften up enemy formations before a charge, so the only thing that's weird about that is how quickly the cavalry came in after them.

... wasn't one of the strong points of plate armor being able to deflect arrow fire? I would understand if they started killing horses left and right and the knights mounting them broke something in the landing, but beyond that...

However, the tactic itself isn't bad. Use dud bonbards to fool the french into thinking that the weapon is useless beyond riling up horses for when the bonbards are actually loaded the day after. Meanwhile the foolish knights charge ahead of time in a manageable number that can be dealt with longbows and ol' knight lances. Nice.

Their plan was to bullrush the enemy, it would've been fine if they had given the infantry a headstart as they went for the flanks, or even just around the infantry, rather than ruin their formation by running through it and nearly trampling friendlies, which is sure to do wonders for their morale/loyalty.

The strong point of plate armor is that it was near impervious and the only reason people stopped using it was when gunpowder weapons became more advanced, reliable, and cheaper to produce.

There are people who have tested firing longbows at plate armor, and only denting them at best.

The best they arrows would do is hit the gaps between the armor, which is understandably hard to do.
