So isn't Akira basically wolverine? He's got the healing factor and can cut through anything. I'm pretty sure he's sustained at least a 100 lethal injuries by now, sometimes only taking minutes to heal.

That is some plot armor Akira got, however the syringe and vaccine is not going to break despite all those hits.
