@mochi I will take a pretty stupid example but isn't the same for pets ? It's only the marriage who is prohibited, if you love someone, i don't think marriage matters. I don't think mutual love incest is an offense in itself, you can't be throw to jail if you love someone of your family. You only gonna be judged by the society.

You kinda dodge the statement. Unless you have bad relation with your family, you gonna meet each other often so if 2 members of the family married than break up, it's gonna be awkard.

@alexiooo incest increases the chance by double each generation... the base chance is around 2-3% ... incest in first generation is 4-6% .... its absolutely negligible ... know what increases the defect rate EVEN HIGHER then incest? doing drugs.... yet we dont ban drug addicts from getting married of having kids... just saying

1. 3% really isnt a lot when there are medications that go up to like 30%

2. im not saying incest is "good" im saying its kinda pointless to ban incest for the mutation chance when we dont ban 100+ other things that give EVEN HIGHER mutation chances

Finally, do you have a source for your 3%? Wikipedia (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incest) says that of children born from parent-child or siblings about 20-36% die or suffer from major disabilities.

Edit: But you do have a point that genetic diseases (not mutations) are probably not the only reason to ban incest

bad analogy, since killing people is illegal and the person who killed 100 people is obviously not free to continue doing so, whereas all those things that have higher birth defect rates such as drinking while pregnant ARE LEGAL, whereas incest is not, its a false equivalency ... if incest is illegal due to defect rate, anything which gives higher rates of defects must therefore also be illegal, but they arent, and thats where the illogical inconsistencies lie

im moreso speaking of cousin type incest which is outlawed in most of the west/america but not in the rest of the world. Japan for example has no issue with cousins getting married, and it makes sense why they dont see issue with it "A 1994 study found a mean excess mortality with inbreeding among first cousins of 4.4%."

4.4% ..... yet cousin "incest" is still banned in the western world for no good reason other then "cuz its icky"

and i quote "incest" because based on statistical probability, every human alive today is blood related in some form or another, even if the relation dates back many many generations, so were all technically "cousins" .. the question is simply wether your a 1st cousin or a 999,999,999th cousin .... at either rate, i dont care either way, i just think the logic for banning it and nother other things related to it is pretty asinine at best
