What he's doing is STEALING EXP. Sharing EXP in a group is one thing when the others are aware of it. Stealing EXP when you're not even a member is quite another. Think about it this way. Let's say he gets captured by an enemy group and steals their EXP and suddenly levels up to destroy them. He's not a part of their group but he still took EXP. Let's say that Hero Group enslaves him. Eventually he steals enough EXP to kick their asses.
Remember, only HE can see the gaming screens and whatnot. Nobody else can and they are not aware of the gaming mechanics.

@Animeaddiction I mean yeah, later than this he does start full on stealing, but for this particular case they were basically a party, anyways.
Besides, even something as simple as 'getting xp when things die nearby' isn't against all gaming logic in the least, quite the opposite that's a thing in a lot of games.

Just because only he sees it doesn't change the fact that it very much operates [in this scene] within videogame norms for the most part. At best you could say 'slightly outside the norm' not 'against all gaming logic' by any stretch. Even the later parts don't go 'against all gaming logic' they're just genuinely different then at least while still similar enough.
