I'm not sure what exactly he's suspecting her of, but he's clearly 1) jumping the gun to the point of idiocy, 2) not properly considering his position as a prince (especially as the heir apparent), and 3) a huge sexist jerk. Alex would make the better king, siscon or no, considering how petty and vengeful Sirius is… not to mention rash. Those are pretty terrible characteristics for a monarch. I think my initial bad impression of the elder brother was correct was correct (Syl should break up with him and find someone better, not that that's likely to happen). That aside, thanks for the information about the setting, @zz2000 (I wish more of the novel were translated, but that's life).
