The MC isn't an idiot. The majority of people commenting that he is one are the idiots. Yes he's strong but he has ZERO reason to assume that. He's still going off game knowledge, a lot of which is not widely known apparently. The skill the examiner used is one that his game knowledge tells him leave one open to a counter attack, so he assumed it was a deliberate opening to "go easy" on him, even though the examiner meant to to be a finishing blow.

the guild rank system and how the rank used to gauge the strength of its member never make sense. If swordmaster who spend his entire life honing his skill decided to join the guild, his start at rank F, but that doesn't mean he is weak... ah, if only manga author put more thought on writing the adventurer rank system.

I like the receptionist. She's refreshing compared to the usual ones in similar manga. She's actually not trying to pamper the MC but is instead pushing him more toward jobs suitable for his real level of power.

However, the world is ridiculous.

@HomeSlice He does, but on the other hand, he's cautious, doesn't trust first impressions, doesn't imagine his game knowledge matches the new world perfectly, and so forth, which is very logical for one in his shoes. In fact the world itself is so strange that I can't even blame him for some of his stupidity. If a serious looking opponent acts like a fool, it's more logical to believe there's an understandable reason for it, not that there's some incomprehensible natural law making the person act so.
