There was no way this would be how things play out though unless the author knew what kind of story this would be. We have plenty of OP characters and OP character stories are different to ones where the character has power related issues. This seems to have been the idea from the start. The demons are going to be the mystery the MC has to unravel.

There is no reason to assume he could have just used rocks to kill the demons and that the author is just making him stupid for the plot.

@jokerxhisoka His mana furnace isn't even released yet. He just still testing stuff against the demon, later on when he realized how the demon's blessing works he will become OP again...until he meet an actually strong enemies.

his magic did little to no damage because his magic aren't blessed by the gods/divine spirits of that world while the demons have their evil god protection, it is still OP for human opponents thought that even Felmenia is amazed.
now, he only need to research it and he'll be able to gear his magic toward demonic targets as well

because finding out why the magic isn't working in the first place is more important than that. That's the gist of our explanations. The immediate solutions to the current situation wasn't on his mind, he was focused on a long term problem.

He's a bit of a fool; you do tests in a controlled area where people can't get hurt. A demon can still be used as a test subject after you've smashed their legs and arms off with oversized boulders or pinning them down.

Even if you can't physically harm them, physical restraints is a perfectly good tool to use. And he only needs to keep some weak demons alive, not go all theorizing on the big guy.

@jokerxhisoka The thing protecting the Demons from Suimei's magic is clearly just as effective against physical attacks as magic. Suimei used both a kick augmented by magic as well as making the demon collapse to his own body weight with gravity. Yet, he didnt get a scratch.

Can anyone tell me, if there is a manga, where the situation is similar to this chapter with the group of soldiers/mercenaries ostracizing the more powerful characters and getting their butts handled to them, because the more powerful characters weren't there?

@Olfyz his magic's power is based on the constellations of the stars and since he's now in a different world the stars are different too which affects his magic, so to actually deal with things he has to bring out the big guns which are all overkill for the world he's stuck in
