Option 2 could easily work for the MC and the lizard couldn't be wary of it either, he's already shown he can shoot spikes out of the earth so it'd just simply be a matter of causing them to stab out underneath the monster. Though you can argue he's new to the world and fighting the first creature that poses an actual threat to him, one he can't outrun, so you could also say he was in "panic" mode and just doing whatever seemed would be his best chances without really spending the time to think about.

Yeah, I have no idea what he was going for. Personally, since the metal lizard kept trying to bite him, I'd have sent a fireball inside since that would have roasted his flesh from the inside. Though to be fair, I'm not sure it's a great plan as it involves being close enough to be bitten by a monster that is clearly very quick and that can also stomp you. (Ideally, the metal lizard should not be wildly biting at thin air if you're at a distance, so you can't just aim a fireball inside it from afar.)

The lizard's back is the softest part? Since when has that ever been the case with a shelled creature, at least aim for the underbelly or it's neck. Honestly anywhere would've been better than it's back.

Also the author really set up that metal lizard huh? Mentioned it and 2 seconds later it showed up. Really threw me off the trail with that whole, "well, I guess it really doesn't matter since I won't come across them," line, totally believed that. I suppose next chapter I should expect he'll meet a dragon as well, or maybe some new monster that was briefly mentioned will show up out of the blue.

Preasure has little to do of how tank Shell works. For APFSDS rounds. Everything is about speed and the long/density of the Rod. All gun use preasure in the chamber to accelerate the proyectil. But thing like railguns and coilguns dont need It. Maybe he was confusas with how HEAT work.

@Temaraire "pressure" has evverything to do with impacts tho. Or more importantly the transfer of momentum onto the target. The faster the round the greater damge it does. Similary with the mass.

heat/shaped charges work to increase the pressure at the point of contact, but i don't know what "pressure magic" would function? like is there a barrier that forms a cone shape funnel for the explosion magic? but yea i thought normal armor piercing relies on density and velocity of the projectile.
