Saiga is not suited to be a Sage as he doesn't have the passion to train for so long. Saiga even acknowledge this himself in the WN, so he would just died a normal human live.
Also Sage truly is not gonna due unless they were killed by some mean, and that is not possible seeing how strong Sansui is so until Sansui become one with Nature which is the goal of all Sage he will not died.
