Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou Deshita? - Vol. 3 Ch. 16 - I Absolutely Hate This

@Nogoodimaginativename no, "gan" is basically a sudden disappointing shock. The mother is all proud of her ability but then both her husband and son shut her down immediately, and the "gan" is basically the sound of that hitting her. It's a pretty common sound effect for that kind of scenario.

Ahhhh I see now I re-read the page. 110% agree in this case that's what the gan effect portrays. Thanks for pointing that out!

I do want to note that sometimes it is used in high intensity contexts as "gan-gan" to portray force or high pressure situations etc. (Although that's not relevant in the use of "gan" we see here in this chapter)

it's fufun, not tsutsun, though they may look simillar, fu has a flat top and tsu doesnt
and it's gan- with a continuous "n" sound because the tsu is small, which i think you know what it stands for, therefore it is shock and not gantsu nor gantz

I found it funny that nowadays parents go with their child to take care of them and in the story, it is considered weird, plus I too thought it was weird although having personally witnessed moms coming to take care of their kid.

I'm conflicted. Bringing your mom with you to boarding school is cringey as hell. But it would be very funny to see it happen.
