you know...for a bigger-than-500 goblin wave...that body pile looks strangely thin...then again i was expecting something like a literal mountain of bodies that you can climb up shooting your minigun while your medic's behind you with an ubercharge playing angelic voices with doves coming out from behind

they should at least tried to make the pit wider and covered...
it was just a deterrent since the goblins aren't that stupid to swim in it after somebody else got melted

@dokimunyy it slowed them down and split them up so it played its part.

@dokimunyy not really, the acid pit made it much more difficult for the goblins to completely overwhelm everyone. There would have been a lot more injuries and death without it

Why are the slimes as competent as the adventurers?

...Because they're Ryoma's slimes, I guess. I can't be mad when the slimes fetching arrows looked so damn adorable.

Now then. What the heck happened to the main unit? Was there some uber strong evolved goblin?

Was it though? It made the choke even narrower, the issue wasn't the pit, but the adventurers that had to guard the two flanks/chokes.
By making it narrow the panicking flank didn't wipe the complete team. Because an encirclement was still dificult.

Can’t remember if it was covered in the manga but it’s because he spars with his slimes and taught them how to use weapons. So they understand martial arts and how to counter and react to the human form. When uh....the family that took him in found out they too were speechless.

@Wolvenworks - a lot of them must have gotten melted in the acid pit, or eaten alive by slimes. Or maybe the artist just didn't want to draw too many dead bodies.

@Psychronia - They are slimes trained by Ryoma, one of the greatest martial artists around.

@dokimunyy - the important part of the pit is, it forced goblins into two narrow corridors guarded by higher-ranked adventurers. This way, goblins could neither surround the adventurers, nor break their ranks.
