... Why do I feel like the manga adapted the scenes a bit? I feel like I read a long ago that this was actually all going on within the caves themselves with the lowest ranked groups protecting near the entrance of it... And with the higher ranks going down the cave paths that they know from the times when the mines were "active" and just an insurance if there was a collapse that would make a corridor the lower ranks stayed behind and to stop any "overflow" from the higher ranks getting avoided while busy, and not a "pincer" attack with the front wide open like the "plan" image shows.

@captain_crunch _ imho, i think they use spear to sweep from right to left or otherwise. If you use your position as center of circle and move the spear like angular move, eventually you can push them closer.
