it's been...so long so details are hazy but there were a lot of kids with super powers from...something and the government or something wants them dead BUT one thing I remember is the author apparently wrote the last few pages from their deathbed and passed away shortly after. I think the title was something along the lines of "Wonderful World" or "Beautiful Life" or something. It's been years.

Alive: The Final Evolution (アライブ -最終 進化的 少年-) is a manga series written by Tadashi Kawashima and illustrated by Adachitoka. The series premiered in Monthly Shōnen Magazine in October 2003. Tadashi finished the series on his sickbed in February 2010 and the final chapter was published in the March issue of the Monthly Shōnen Magazine, although he died soon after.
