The artist most likely looked at World War 2 era type PU scope sniper Mosins and possibly just traced the art based on photos or 3d models found online,

If you look at this photo yes there is a significant scope offset of an inch or so above the bore, but that's how it was used back then as opposed to now. I guess firearm operating doctrine has evolved but the artist most likely isn't enough of a gun nut to know

my problem is that the artist slaps on a side mounted rail that is as high as a PU scope mount, then slaps another mounted scope on it that is equally as high. Just looking at it and comparing to the picture you share, it looks like the offset is doubled.
Just type "Mosin sniper" and google will show you a sensible PU scope or a low profile mount. I'm not even a gun nut and i thought something was wrong with the scope.

I still don't understand why did he make her stay as a slave, couldn't he just say no to the slave trader when they're about to do the ritual?
