@legendaryswordsman yeah I hate Lockmann too. He is just an arrogant asshole towards her. He is never really nice or respectful to her, treats her as an equal, acts like she is his posession as soon he gets jealous and never really protects her, while also flirting with all the girls in the bar and on all other occassions. Hell he even "blames" and ridicules her for not knowing rules and laws directly concerned nobles, while she is a commoner where theseare not needed or just nonsensical.
I think the Author is one of the people who believes that this is "manly".

It would make much more sense if she just plain hates him.

You know the worst part of this manga isn’t even that Lockmann is such a possessive, condescending asshole or that Nunally seems to get more incompetent compared to him every chapter (like wtf author? They were on pretty equal footing at the beginning and Nunally was much more confident in her abilities. Why are you doing this? To make Lockmann look like the typical “cool” shoujo ML?).

The worst part about this manga is that we all know that they’re going to end up together anyway. Lockmann is so clearly the ML that it hurts.

Ngl the maiden thing was unnecessary and gross. The female rivalry is such an old and boring concept too...imagine being at odds with a knight because she thinks youre too chummy with a boy oof, where is the professionalism on the knights part.

Id love it if we didnt have to deal with our FL being continously shown up by the ML.

I support the 2nd ML faction, even if not endgame it gives me someone to actually ship her with.

It's says a lot about Lockman/Rockman if the guy from page 4 is a better love interest option for Nunnally than Lockman himself

I personally find Lockman and Nunnally's relationship better if it was never romantic or heavily one sided. Lockman is immature/rude and it's annoying to see Nunnally be treated as second place in all aspects expect "love" I thought they were basically on the same level at school so why does the story need to make her so incompetent and weak around him rn?

I think he is so cute though! Let me share my thoughts about Lockmann and his feeling

Rather than isn't being honest to the girl he likes, I have a feeling that he can't be honest, and actually has a heavy consideration about it.
My best guess is, perhaps it's something like a sense of duty as a son of a Duke. Based on what his father mentioned before, he's a nice son that does his job, but never shows his real feeling.

The thing about him teasing her, is something reasonable to me. He likes her. But he (perhaps) can't have her. Yet he can't let her go. That's why at least he wants to make her always remember/think about him, even if that's not love. So complex, so sad, so hurtful.

Btw, the case about him burning the papers is not intentional. It was explained that it happened unvoluntarily when the magic power runs wild due to a burst of emotion @legendaryswordsman

A lot of stories have this kind of complex characters who are not able to voice out their real feelings. Cmiiw but in Japan, they don't speak bluntly. You tend to have to catch the implicit meaning in someone's words/actions. That practice definitely affects the stories, not the author's fault though, that's just cultural differences.

Anyway I really wish to see from Lockmann's pov to know his real feelings

Lockmann thinks he can never be with Nunally because she isn’t a noble so he treats her like this intentionally so she’ll stay away from him. Idk if that is the legit reason but that is what novel readers have told me.

Personally I think this a shit reason for his behaviour.

Nunally already has zero romantic interest in him so there’s no reason to “keep her away”. He’s just making her miserable with his behaviour. He’s clearly dealing with some complicated feelings of unrequited love but it’s not fair of him to basically dump that all on Nunally when she has no idea wtf is going on. He needs to put on his big boy pants and deal with his feelings by himself instead of bothering her.

If he really wanted to let her go he could just choose to never or at least hardly ever see her.

Also “he’s teasing her because he likes her” is just an excuse they use when boys behave like shitheads; it’s on the same level as “boys will be boys”.

Personally I think people who have their own shortcomings are charming. His awkwardness is cute. Imagining the way he knows he is doing it wrong but can't help to do so and then blames himself lmao
He is struggling. That's why he needs someone to help him overcome his weakness, to complete each other, and to grow together.
If he's the perfect "prince" it'd definitely be a boring story lol
