It’s not the ‘i’m-blushing-so-i’m-into-you’ type, it’s more of that he genuinely respects her and he’s subtlely in love because of what you mentioned, his nobility status. There were many instances, though subtle, that he cherishes her and I think I would like that better than him being very open about it (Nunally wouldn’t even get the gist of his advances). Well, Nunally is an airhead when it comes to love anyway—which makes him want to tease her more. The topic being if he considers Nunally as his rival, which I think he DOES acknowledge her as his rival due to her powers and maybe he was prejudiced at first because she’s a commoner, but later on figured he was wrong and now treats her as a friend.
