Anyone ever notice the Pay to Win players in video game isekais? They're big spenders irl, but the moment they get isekai, they become the biggest misers and scrooges.

I don't want to fill in the author's plot holes, but it feels like authors don't know how stigmatized P2W players are with normal players. Now that mentality of hiding your cheats would transfer with the MC, but none of that is ever mentioned in terms of character building.

My guess, cost, mobility, and reload time for big weapons would lower the dps and/or safety to dangerous levels. Rocket launchers need time as well as a sturdy foundation to use. Both of which he does not currently have. Also it isn't something you can dodge and shoot with. Also, also, the blast could wound/kill his teammates if the missile gets deflected or thrown back, which is basically worst case. Not to mention the sound. LMGs and HMGs are bulky and, with his already seriously wounded condition, could be near impossible to keep aim. He seems to be injured to the extent where the recoil could end up hurting him more with the bigger guns too, but even his current one should then too.

If we assume weapons are not heavy to him, then ammo and reloading are the issue. You get maybe 4 rockets depending on the launcher. Then you need to reload. Same with the gun, you get 1 belt, if it breaks or jams (if it can) he is fucked. And they take a long time to reload compared to a mag in his current weapon.

And if that isn't it, then the cost to buy it could be too much.

He got AP rounds all along. If you remember few chapters back(the setting was in the mountains where some or one of his comrade died due to the giant birds iirc) he said he wont hold back anymore. And said this world is not a game. And now look what he's done before he take out all those AP rounds

He's still using a Scar-H(scar 17, mk17 mod 0) though. which is chambered at 7.62mmx51mm

In his defense:
1) he has no experience with status effects and debuffs in FPS
2) he did get them to rest and reforge their equipment last chapter...for all the good it did
3) he does slowly improve his disposition...
