Maou-sama ni Shoukan sareta kedo Kotoba ga Tsuujinai - Vol. 2 Ch. 10 - She Came Again

Ren is one of the most passively written main characters I've ever seen. I'm starting to get frustrated with his characterization.

@might have multiple enchantments, we don't know.

I love how the first thing she does is check for the collar, then ask why her pet isn't collared.

this mc can't communicate with them because he's just simply an incapable person.
he just need a grain of brain to know what the drawing means, but he's just focused on the witch's drawing skill.
he likes there but isn't even trying to learn their language

>he's certainly around 10 years old
a 10 years old wouldn't have things in their harddrive/ssd that is worth destroying it.

@entity_101

Chapter 1 (which is currently missing here) says that he skipped college, which means that he is is at least as old as a college student, if not older. Also, learning a language does not need a preexisting bilingual person, interpreter, or even dictionary: children acquire language simply by association of a particular word with a particular object (cf. for Helen Keller, the word "water" with the sensation of water in her hands). In my personal experience, basic terms like "water", "food", "sun", "fire", "father" or "mother" can be learned relatively quickly (though pronouncing correctly is a different can of worms). In this aspect all the characters so far are badly written, designed to sustain the premise of miscommunication.

Edit: Chapter 1 has returned just now.

A 10 year old would have no excuse to learn a new language. It's easier for kids.

He's just horribly passive. You don't even need pen and paper to practice basic communication. MATH, at least.

I'm fine with our MC not ever being able to understand what the demons are saying because that'll add into the communication. But, if he cannot even figure out what that picture was trying to tell him, then that's a whole new ball game.

He's gone from unfortunate circumstances to complete idiot despite being a college student.

@cryum I mean I can't be that surprised that he hasn't learned the language yet I mean he hasn't been there that long yet and also it could be that their language is extremely different from Japanese adding to the difficulty. Think about how much easier it is to learn a language like French or Spanish if you already know English; The differences in phonetic structure of a language when compared to others often indicates the level of difficulty to learn said language. Also yeah I am pretty sure I remember it saying he was at least college age in the first chapter.

Guys, I believe you all are missing the point here. MC would not learn the language any time soon (either by him trying or by someone using magic on him) because that is what makes this manga 'different' from others isekai mangas (the fact that neither he, nor we the readers can understand what is really happening around him, and just guess about it). Once he learns the language, the 'appeal' of it will be lost unless mangaka do something really interesting with it, which I doubt it.

Hmm I wonder if his spirit is in isekai but he's actually just taking a nap and time has stopped for him in the real world, relative to isekai world?

i think i understand that drawing... he in reality sleeping, and his existence in that worls is just his soul.
but still dont get reason for that amulet

@JuliusCV agreed. I believe MC should only learn the language at the very end, like, maybe last chapter or the one just before that.

mc is such a dumbass. He didnt get the simple drawing and he doesnt think about learning the damn language

Okay, so the drawing is like "If you wear this, you will not go back to your original body (ie: the one in Japan)". But then again, IF the mc even understand that, chances are he will not want to go back considering how he hates his previous boring life. Thus, he can still live in ignorant bliss because knowing it or not will not change anything

Even if the drawing sucked, it seemed obvious to me that she drew his soul or himself, going back to his previous life/body in the other world, with the "river"/barrier in between the two worlds...
