He didn't know she did that at all so he didn't feel betrayed or hurt, that is what the story has shown so far. He is knowingly neglecting his family that as far as he is concerned, everything else was normal. I doubt the story would be any different if she had actually slept with him. Either way, he neglected his wife and biological son(as far as he is concerned and the story hasn't said otherwise I think).
I think the wife wasn't hundred percent right in her method, but she dodged a bullet kind of by not sleeping with that man. It would have been a complete waste of her life to be there if it wasn't for her son being born out of that marriage. She did the right thing considering the nature of the guy she married, unless he acted like that because he figured her out(which is unlikely).
Oh well, let us see where the journey takes us.

@deathmailrock He does think Ain is his real son, the mother made it so he thinks they had sex. So nope, he is just an asshole that throws away his son after he got another one with a women he likes more than his first.
Could make an argument that the mothers way of doing things wasnt "nice", but its understandable since she felt that he wasnt commited (and obviously was right with that)

@Silwith But his mom made him look incompetent by making his ability (the way their nation judges people's talent) look bad... plus, she herself was obviously not affectionate towards him either.

And it's not like I think that what he's doing is right... that's just not the point... the point is that she's not innocent herself... the entire time, we go from thinking that he's bad her being innocent to both of them being bad... and frankly, the "binds our lives together" thing just feels like a cheap excuse keep mommy a virgin... and it really just makes the situation less connecting, since our MC isn't the man's son...

In the end, our MC not getting the inheritance feels more justified. The fact that the wife that's favored is the one that actually likes him and that the one that's the heir is his actual son just makes the situation feel like he's now less of a villain. You know?

Maybe if this was explained in the very 1st chapter, I'd feel less angry... but when it's brought out that the MC wasn't his son and that she didn't sleep with the man... so much of the drama and angst just loses steam...

@deathmailrock Mhm, i never thought there was much "steam", but still, as its explained his mom was ready to do it right and it was from the beginning the "father" that didnt go with it.
In the end for Ain and his mother the inheritance is useless anyway, since they can go back to be part of the royal family of a muuuch more powerful nation, which is better in all ways, the reason why the whole thing is so bad is because it was a diplomatic thing, it was sort of a treaty with a much more powerful nation... in that way the "father" took his liking of another woman over the safety of his people, breaking of something like that could have very well resulted in war (no matter what the first king swore way back) and his country would have been utterly crashed.

So, he is just a dumb ass for that, ignoring his son and first wife like that, openly disrespecting them, even though he know they are much more powerful than him in the end. He could have brought ruin to his whole country with this behaviour, just because he was incapable of respect (after all, ains mother arranged herself with another wife and son, so its not like he couldnt have his love, but he just had to be an disrespecting ass to the two most important individuals in his realm...)
