The axe ghost was definitely different from the others, one of his eyes was white and fairly normal looking, unlike all the other ghosts so far who have had bloody/black eyes, not to mention he killed(?) the ghost rather than eating it, so many questions hmmmm......

@roxnsox Looks like a Goblin Slayer-type character. A sort of exorcist that continued to hunt evil spirits after his death.

This hunter did not exude miasma like the evil ones.

Maybe he's a ghost who checks for possessions? So he specifically goes around trying to cut everyone and occasionally manages to catch a spirit who was hiding inside of someone.
