As far as the story goes right now, it's kinda justified to Toda as her just being his "special one" that understands his emotions more than anyone else. But I feel like this will play a role in whatever Final Act is planned in the story, since Nakano usually feels really bad for "cheating" with her ability, like just how genuine of a person can she be if she willingly chooses how/when to react to someone's feelings, even if she's aware of them.
