@missmercurial To be clear, they probably used the word "tsuki", which has been translated between "like" and "love" by various different people for years. It's the common confession, and honestly, most kids don't really understand the difference anyway cause they're still kids. The deeper "I love you" would be "ai shiteru" but I highly doubt they used that.
