@cybik I don't see this as a plot hole, more like something curious - that, even if his native language is Japanese, he wouldn't pass anymore as a "native Japanese speaker". He'd mostly rely on extremely common sentences, sentence fragments, and have a rather thick accent.
This is hard to represent in fiction though.
