One Punch Man (Webcomic/Original) - Ch. 117

So just fighting Saitama once or twice actually makes you significantly more powerful... if you survive, that is. Interesting.

This reminds me of how in every Platinum Games title you have a rival character with the same moveset as you and you guys are enemies first but by the end of the third act a greater enemy comes up and you both team up to fight it.

Also, to the translator - interesting note on the ninja names. Honestly, either version still works, since the joke is that they have redundant names. The former is more jokey, while the latter is more serious - but since this IS One Punch Man, they both fit different situations.

In Japanese, is the second word, the Katakana, just a silly way to make their names sound more dramatic? Are they trying to have cool super names and failing or does it actually sound cool in Japanese?

If it's supposed to be a little silly then I like Flashy Flash, etc, because the adjectives are a derpy way of making the second word sound more dramatic. Whereas in the second version (Lightspeed Flash) the names sound normally cool and the first word is more dramatic.

Not just fighting Saitama but just watching him fight is enough to broad your horizon, we saw something like this in the latest chapter of Murata's adaptation. Some random esper with a helmet suddenly got stronger because he saw Tatsumaki overwhelming power and proving that the limits of one's power are bottomless ... So watching beings like Tatsumaki and Saitama has a great effect on others, even Speed of Sonic increased his speed trying to copy Saitama.

So you'll either grow stronger or end up like Superalloy Darkshine....with a broken spirit

@pip25 It's not just "fighting" him, They always think they are on the top and they don't need to give more of them becuase it's pointless... until they realize just one punch of Saitama is enough to defeat them.

@Mebravo I don't understand the anti-Murata mindset. If it weren't for him, I'm pretty sure One-Punch Man wouldn't be as popular as it is now. Because, let's face it, the art is horrible and the storyline pace is way too messy. Have a normie read any random chapter, they won't understand what's going on.

Murata's job is to stabilize the pace *and* make it readable to everyone. None can deny how godly his artwork is. His job is not just to carbon-copy ONE's sketches, please. He makes the story immersive and the characters relatable. I can see why he might take this chapter and make it two.

Also, why does none of you talk about Garou spying in the distance?

@Mebravo

It's not an anti-Murata sentiment. For one, some people just enjoy the original more. Are you going to say that's anti-Murata? Two, he's right, if we get to this point in the actual manga this will take several chapters.

Nothing he said is wrong. You're making assumptions and then playing off on them.

@mister_nobody I don't know what you think is antiMurata, but when he gets to this chapter, I expect it will be one of the ones with months of rewrites, and redrawn scenes. It only stabilizes the pace, when you look at the whole volume, when you read it as it publishes, it's actually full of backtracking.

So what're all these top class ninja doing all the time when they aren't punishing betrayers, anyway? There seems to be a lot of them loitering aorund.
