To be honest I don't understand the village.

They said there are two types of Youkai, the ones who can control their appearance and those who randomly shapeshifted at one point of their life.

So why do the shapeshifters keep maturing in their human form? Shouldn't they always have the same appearance since it was out of their control how they'd look like?

And why do the youkai that can actually alter their appearance choose to look like they're 80+ years old?
If there's a male to catch and make babies (as stated with 80+ they're still fertile it seems), wouldn't a younger appearance be much more beneficial?

It would be way cooler if the story was about a shapeshifter that looked like an "old" woman [early 50s-60s] when transformed and thus was too unpopular to find a mate and then the male MC would fall in love with her because of her character.

Because no matter how good the character of a certain female sub is, she's bound to never be the chosen one in these stories where there is some childhood memory stockholm-syndroming the MC from choosing a good mate for him.
That said, Shiro will probably not win

@BraveHeartedHero, I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who enjoyed the series. The girls on both of these manga seems to have a similar character and atmosphere.

@Helio I don't quite get his thinking to be honest. He has spent his entire life being avoided by girls because he smells then ends up in a village unwilling where there are girls interested in him. Hes just too blind, ignorant, or self centered to think that he could be liked who he is. That type of MC is grating but he seems to at least be opening up. My only issue is that hes opening up while his worst qualities still remain. That is annoying.
