Onii-chan Is Done For! - Vol. 3 Ch. 21 - Mahiro and the First Day of School (V2)

@Aereus Glad to see somebody else has noticed the nosedive in translation quality. One thing I would add to your comment is that "About that..." at the beginning of a dialogue line is both a literal translation of the Japanese phrase and a piece of loaned syntax. It sounds very unnatural in English, and it's usually much better to use a common interjection or something similar instead or drop it completely (unless the dialogue is interrupted right afterwards or there is some meaningful emphasis on how it's said).
Compare:

"How do we handle the procedures?"
"About that... I've got my ways."

"How do we handle the procedures?"
"Oh, I've got my ways."

"How do we handle the procedures?"
"Let's say I've got my ways."

@lilmagi It's a lot harder to use a bathroom that you're not accustomed to than you'd think. You get scared that you'll out yourself or even like, scared that the sounds you make using the restroom will make others question you.

@Teasday The idea here is they're all grilling the new girl for information... aka an inquiry. Use a synonym if you want, but it's not an incorrect representation.

@moozooh I guess it depends on the person. I know I still use "About that..." when talking with friends sometimes, so I didn't find it that odd to go with that.

@Aereus
Really appreciate the response! I'll admit that I sorta TL'd this in a rush, so mistakes like that 寝不足 one sorta just flew over my head, and I translated 罪悪感 with the first thing that came to mind. I only heard about Otomegane's keyboard troubles just recently, so I didn't know I could've taken my time... I sincerely apologize for any problems we've made in this translation.

Dude go get one of those shitty membrane keyboards as a backup. They never die! Mine has lasted like 3 coke spills, 4 porrage spills, 2 milk spills and maybe some other crap here and there like food. It's from like 2001with a ps/2 connector and i'm still using it, downside is that it has quite a bit of input lag in gaming (~0.05second)

I think its still suitable if you ask me. People misuse the words such as "like" so much that I bet a new definition are in the dictionaries. I dunno, could just be australian multiculturalism that others may not understand.

speaking of buying the books, as it turns out amazon doesn't ship to australia anymore except for the localised store. rip

I don't think s/he should get a keyboard just for those off chances that s/he'll spill something on it again... the real solution is always to keep beverages slightly further away from the keyboard, but not so far that your hands can't reach it. That way, if it spills, it'll mostly only go below the keyboard.

I'd say buy a good keyboard that will last. A mechanical keyboard, or one of those faux mechanical keyboards (like the ones logitech makes). If you want compact, a 10 keyless would work very well.

Besides that, English-speaking wise, for me (in my opinion):
"About that... I've got my ways." --> This is normal to say... but I don't think it's the best choice of words as a response for that scenario.
"Oh, I've got my ways." --> Looks more natural for the scenario.
"Let's say I've got my ways." --> This could also potentially work... but it's missing something. Can't put my finger on it.

@ZdrytchX As I just commented on in the main series comments: If you want to support the author, he has a Fanbox on Pixiv (basically Patreon) and his BOOTH also sells digital compilations.
Otherwise if you still want the print volume, I recommend going through somewhere like Honto, CDjapan, Mangaoh, or Yesasia.

@Nazdrovie Also I mentioned in the Ch20 comments how hubris bit me in the ass and the correction was wrong and should actually be closer to the original you had: It's supposed to be sarcasm on Mahiro's part. See my earlier comment there for wording.

Don't trust your PC with liquid nearby it's like putting toxic product at children range you know it will happen with Murphy.

wait why tf people here talking about the keyboard instead of the latest update lol

@Kamelpov I keep drinks on my computer desk, but I'm also not a clutz that knocks things over. I also tend to keep them outside immediate reach, IE: I have to lean forward to grab them. I also don't have any doggos or kiddos around to cause accidents though.

I know what the idea is, the point was that "inquisitor" makes no grammatical sense and they could've used "inquisition" instead.

@Teasday @Aereus
As long as we're talking about "inquisitor" or "inquisition" or whatever, I'd like to say that I'm still partial to just using "baptism" instead, half because it's the closest translation to the raws (洗礼 quite literally means "baptism") and half because it puts emphasis on how this is a sort of traditional thing that happens all the time. I think the word works fine in this case, personally.

Also, if you want any changes to happen, you might want to @ Otamegane instead of me, since I can't typeset or edit at all ?
