Yeah dunno why they make such a big deal out of PK, but at least PK is fun. Such a pitty those PKers are so weak. It would be more fun to have high skilled ones there like Kirito-kun. ?
Just make the MC suffer some losses in pvp in order to motivate him practising!

A surefire skill to kill someone and the CD is a few seconds and can be used against two targets? Now I'm interested in the downsides.

I expect it to suck a bit of the user's XP every time it's used. At least one of the Dark Souls games has spells that sacrifice some souls to get extra damage (never touched Demon's Souls so I don't know if that game also has something like that) so the author could've gained some inspiration from there.

PK is great when players go against equal level or go for higher level players. When Pkers go for noobs or real low level players it sucks for everybody and is a good way to ruin a game. Then you get very high level players hunting the PKers that go after low level players and you get no-fun chaos.

As always the PvE queens/carebears are crying and because of this developers screw the games. 
Just suck it up or join PvE servers or do whatever (there are always many ways to avoid pvp).

@monkey123 as always there's the keyboard warriors flexing on "queens/carebears"?. these newbies didnt consent to pvp and the pk-ers manipulated and exploited them for their "fun".
But really, why do you want to mess with players minding their own business? does it make you feel superior? does the game give you achievements? it is schadenfreude? do you just do it because you can?

It's explained better in the Light Novel but dying due to PK ( aka getting ganked and not sanctioned pvp) results in losing all your gold to the person your defeating, and having harsh penalties (sorta like res sickness). This is negated by the fact that the person performing the PKing is also penalized that's why it isn't a free for all. Also there is only one server that this game is played on and at this point in the story the game hasn't even been out for very long (like less then few months) and PVP is new to it (as it wasn't in the beta). This whole arc is actually leading up to an actual PVP tournament.

@monkey123 There are just as many reasons on why people dont pvp. maybe they arent looking for pvp in PVE mode, maybe they have other objectives. maybe they actually like the other parts of the game but it got mixed zones only so they have no choice.
You say you do it for a challenge and maybe some others share the same sentiment, but i dont see what is challenging about fighting players that's got presumably lower level, is not built optimally for pvp, is not in the mindset and/or also not have experience in pvp. Of course they wouldnt be, they're in pve zone with intent to do pve things.
I despise pve games with pvp within pve zones. when im out to grind exp and farm mats im not there hoping to get ganked or looking for a pvp, and i wont be geared or built for pvp sake too. pvp specific zones are fine, i wont be shitting on them but i also wont be touching them, I got mobas and planetside for all my pvp needs against consenting parties. Games with this kind of feature simply tagged on with no consideration to both parties' player experience deserves to get every bit of toxicity and backlash that it's own players brews.
Fine, you do it because you want to, but you have no right to call people names for not liking what you like especially when you do it despite others' consent.
That's like throwing stones at people because you wanted to, then calling them names them when they say they don't want to be thrown stones at. Go throw your stones at people that also want to throw stones at you.
You also didn't like it when people steal "your" farm spot in a public zone even tho you didn't consent to it, did you.

PVP can be for the sake of the challenge, but if you're deliberately going out of your way to attack low-level players and running away when things go bad it's little more than masturbating at the thought of mildly inconveniencing other people.
Not truly harmful, and there are more pathetic you could be doing out there so it's not like you're the bottom of the barrel, but it frustrates new players and thus hurts the bottom line, so I can see why the devs would want to clamp down on it. Wouldn't want to end up like one of those abandoned MMOs that lost their playerbases because they weren't fun anymore.

You guys defending PK are trying to compare doing It on your avarage MMORPG, that you play while staring at a screen, to a VRMMORPG, where you actually are the character and can actually feel things. :s
Regardless of It being just a game, regardless of not having any bloody in It, even If the sense of pain is dampened or nullified, even If there weren't any penalties from dying, you would still be experiencing the situation on first hand.
I will not make any statements about PVP because It has not been explained yet how It actually works on this game but, getting bullied and PK'd on such a realistic settings has got to be terrifying.
I mean, even getting killed by monsters, that just go directly for the kill, should be scary enough. But PKs, unlike monsters, enjoy stalking and "terrorizing" their targets before actually killing. :x
So I don't think they are being overly dramatic, because even If having their character getting killed on the game doesn't actually kill them, they would still have the memories of the event.
I can't comment on other people's personal opinions, but I would definitely not enjoy being hunted down and murdered, even If It's not actually real. :u

I have no problem with PK when people don't overdo It, but edgelords bullying other people for their own amusement is not something "nice", even If It's just a game. :u
And being able to logout from the game whenever you please doesn't change that fact.
