Saikyou Yuusha wa Oharai Hako: Maou ni Nattara Zutto Ore no Musou Return - Vol. 1 Ch. 3 - The Hero Saves His Comrades

I find this manga to be strangely pleasant.

It's not shy about showing horrible people as being horrible, but the Hero doesn't seem particularly hateful about it either. Angry and jaded, yes, but he doesn't care about revenge. It's a story about finding peace and making connections.

He's not overpowered. has a final amount of stamina and feels very human. One of the most likable MC's in recent isekai's.

even the mightiest hero can still fall...

@Kyujyu this is still isekai (another world) to us, though. because it's basically in another world (isekai), not earth. but if they think this is an transported or reincarnated to another world's manga, then they are totally wrong.

To me this is on the level of Saihate no Paladin, isekai-ish with different moods but the potential both have is something else...
Don't remember last time I couldn't wait for the next chapter of something.

@dyuinco saihate is more like a tear-jerker with its melancholy drama and fight-against-evil-god-fantasy-heroic-adventure troupe while this fatso of a hero is more like a struggle against moral and ethics...
well, both are good anyway if not for the slow pacing though...

äh?
MC is fat not ugly
or is the hero design in Manga different from WN/LN

@TTX
I remember someone said in novel, he really looks like an Orc
so maybe Manga takes some justice on his design and tone the ugliness down

Item Master

@TTX

To be fair he's still far from what is normal and commonly considered beautiful in this setting and our own world. He looks about as close to an orc as a human would get and he's not actually "fat" from what ive read. He hasn't been shown over eating or anything after all. His body type is pretty odd, though i guess he's still more normal looking than most JOJO's characters.

I mean how would you even make him uglier? The manga could just be avoiding too much detail. Drawing creases or otherwise unusual facial shaped and such would take a lot more work after all.

@Nk9bjP4A
hes Batman using Gadgets, never misses, uses just the right amount of force, etc etc.

@GerryCerryBery
unless he was transported from another world or reincarnated from another world, this is just a fantasy setting, not an Isekai.

@Kronous Literally, yes, isekai means another world. But the term isekai itself mostly used to refer to and generalize the "reincarnated/transported to another world". The world where the story take place need to be different from the MC original world in order to be called Isekai. If not then it's just called Fantasy world/setting.

Maybe mc should exercise a bit. Trim some weight and up his stats a bit so he doesn’t have to rely on item master all the time. That would be a sensible direction.

3 chapter in and I'm still wondering if that comedy tag isnt out of place there...👺

@Kronous That's not how tagging works.
Fantasy/game-like setting does not necessarily means its isekai unless the MC/other important character in the manga been reincarnated/transported into that world.
Easiest example, Goblin Slayer is not an isekai. Just a fantasy setting.

@Kiriha not all readers are someone who have knowledge about trivial stuff like that. they might have different ways of thinking.

@Kyujyu did i ever said about tagging? and i know that this kind of manga just a fantasy setting. i just think that they are take this as "isekai" from their perspective as earthling.

let's be positive, don't mind about what others said, mind about ourself first.
