Saotome Senshu, Hitakakusu - Vol. 10 Ch. 109 - Saotome Senshu, Stay Away

@givemersspls Like I said in a previous chapter, I try to be understanding of other cultures but this is the one thing that I find completely disgusting. This shit is pathetic and so is anyone who is involved in it and defends it, there is having different cultural values and then there is hiding behind "i-it's just a different c-culture, you wouldn't u-understand! d-don't be racist!". This makes me so fucking mad and knowing that it's not only normal but that people can do little against it only makes it worse.

I do hope it's like you think and this'll end up with the mayor and principal turning the couple into their newest cashcow, though I would be annoying that they get away with this shit.

I just want this to end as quickly as possible and to go back to the cute couple stuff.

if this drama lasts longer than the next chapter im fucking shitting all over it

The story turns political real fast lmao, but hey it's kinda realistic I would say

@Acolytus
I don't think its a cultural thing so much as it's a construct-of-the-times thing. Idols are pictures of perfection. They listen to you, cheer you on, and sing motivational songs. So, as you probably know, they bring in the virgins, rundown businessmen, and the degenerates. All of which either want them sexually, or desire their emotional support.
This is why idols aren't allowed to have relationships. If she's taken, the stock won't flock.

TL:DR - Their "culture" outside of the typical Japanese, "You're a cog in the machine" is self-perpetuating because greedy people are taking advantage of their overworked and underappreciated populace. So like everywhere else, but with a prettier face!

Honestly can't understand all the ruckus in the comment section. Hasn't this point been made clear from the first few chapters already?
It's the kicker of this story. In other manga people accept magic, dragons and whatnot as part of the in-universe logic, but pressuring social constructs is where it gets weird?

I don't know about the city's major, but that principal seemingly doesn't understand how utterly weak his position is. If he tries something, everyone is going to take him apart. If he really expels MMC, that will be a minor-manageable inconvenience for him. 1. Saotome will also leave the school the next day. 2. Their teacher will tell the parents council and school board about real reasons behind MMC being expelled. Telling the press, will also help. This story is quite juicy. 3. Everyone will look into the matter. 4. The principle gets fired and our favorite couple return to school after a week later or 2 months at the veeeery most.

Soatome is an awesome bonus for those greedy leeches, but she is not their meal ticket. Their jobs are. If they don't understand that, too bad.

@kronix @Acolytus

You guys definitely sound like someone from Western cultures so you will probably never understand how big the need to conform is in the Far Eastern societies like Japan which are also very homogeneous societies. It’s messed up but hey they have a falling birth as a prize for being so stifling.

Media tends to over exaggerate so it may not be this bad mainstream but then again media has always been the best medium for social commentary like this.

Every girl looks like a sexy greaser now...my fetishes are getting all mixed up.

Get that dang Fat Old Man away from my Lil’Boy!

If he can actually be expelled for that then that's fucking dumb.

Also "muh cultural differences" is such a weak defence.

@givemersspls How many nations can actually say they're their ideological selves? Europe's racial tensions, even after the event of the holocaust, are at a post-war high. "The Land of the Free" is still struggling to define the basics of freedom of speech. They put their high school athletes on even higher pedestals, yet silence them even further from taking any political stances of their own.

Maybe this author's depicting the ridiculousness of the society he's in. Maybe we're all buying into a gag in a rather pointed gag manga. Or maybe we're all just reading into this all a bit too seriously.

@givemersspls And that's exactly what I'm arguing. People are focusing on the faulty system of a foreign culture while looking through lenses that in themselves are a product of another flawed culture. Hypocrisy sucks, but it's rampant on any manga forum.

In regards to the war crime denials, much of the blame goes to the government instead of the people. Their major contribution in modern history is omitted from their curriculum by choice of a select few, those who are ignorant of it should be slightly excused. But as a Taiwanese whose nation bore the scars of their atrocities, I can never absolve the Japanese people of their responsibility in learning about what they've done in this international age on their own accord, because they're all due for a rude awakening once they step outside the confines of their own society.

What is this nonsense?

Mayor and principal are scum you avoid while walking down the street but that's well known by now, but all this noise just because two hormone-fueled dorks are dating, and this does not involve anything like major firms or sponsors or whatever? That's just lame.
