Saotome Senshu, Hitakakusu - Vol. 10 Ch. 109 - Saotome Senshu, Stay Away

@givemersspls Adopting the standard of liberalism and enacting on every facet of the ideology are different things. A nation can assume the broad umbrella term of liberalism, yet still be divided on each social and economic issue just like how every liberal democracy is intended. And among all these conflicting ideas already perpetuated by the system, cultural standards and stigmas can still somehow coexist. Just because they've adopted a Western standard of government, it doesn't mean that their philosophical core should be displaced.

And I think you're calling out the wrong guy here. I never said I disagree with people criticizing on how rigid Japanese society can be. I only have issues with people calling it 'backwards' as compared to the Western standard, because they think that all the peoples of the world should ignore societal and geopolitical differences and somehow exist on the same anthropological timeline.

this comment section tho :p

regardless, oh no theres a new look for saotome and its meeting all my standards

how is this even a scandal, fr. aren't high schoolers allowed to date? isn't it just normal? wtf is this, she's not an idol or anything and she hasn't signed a contract where it's stated that she isn't allowed to date, has she?

@givemersspls The caricature was intended for an offhanded, snarky, and a tad self-deprecating observation on a manga forum. One which I never thought would evolve into this in-depth discussion on government and societies. We'll agree to disagree on what we think liberalism pertains to, but this was enlightening. Thanks!

Wouldn't the purity in this case be less related to the "idol purity" concept and more related to the sports relationship concept?
You know, that one where the coach forbids his athletes from going to parties, fucking hookers and stuff like that because it might affect their performance?

Remember that Saotome is just a huge source of income and good PR for the Mayor and the Principal.

The problem with Saotome ahving a BF is that it would get in the way of her training, so to mitigate the problem of people discovering she has a BF she cannot train... yeah, makes sense.

Also Saotome is very handsome, not that it is a surprise...

Wow, so much "BL" going on in this chapter. I guess that's what you get, when you have so many tomboys that look good in boyish clothing.

"Promise between men, okay?"
